preparing swaping a 360to a 460

After about 3 months of debating I figure its worth it to put my 460 into my 1969. My 69 is a 4x4 with a 360 and manuel trans. My 79 460 came from a 4x4 and is an auto c6. What do I got to do and buy to put the 460 in and keep my stick shift? Is there a bell housing I can buy and will my clutch fit? What about the motor mounts? Etc?

I'm doing this swap in my 71 f250 4x4 there is no factory engine mounts to bolt the 460 in a 4x4 you will need to make your own or buy a set from a company I got mine from autofab after some suggestions and what my needs are i went with them as for the transmission they make adapter plates to bolt up your 4 speed I've heard of people doing this but couldn't say where they got the parts at I'm going with a zf5 trans instead of my 4 speed so I haven't looked for adapters also I'm pretty sure they used stock clutch linkage with a 460 flywheel/clutch but you need the right size clutch I think people ran into bellhousing clearance issues when using the larger 12" clutches also you need to know if your 460 is internally or externally balanced sometime in 79 the 460's switched to external balanced need to know this so you get the right flywheel check out this thread I have going it will answer most of your engine mount questions

You can find a bellhousing but there are issues you have to be aware of. There was no factory 460/manual transmission combo until 83. If you use a post 83 bell, you fill have to convert to hydraulic clutch, unless you use your mechanical linkage with the hydraulic throwout arm. If you do that the pedal will be stiff and the action high because the fulcrum is farther from the clutch. You can use an earlier mechanical clutch 400m bellhousing too. The bolt pattern is the same, but it is shallower and there are some clearance issues you have to get around. When using a 400 bell the splines on your input shaft will bottom out on your pilot bearing. You might not notice and it might fit together ok but if it touches your thrust bearing will be toast very soon. You should be able to correct this by using a 302 pilot bushing because it fits into a deeper crank step, but measure to make sure. Because a 400 bell is shallower you may not be able to fit a 460 flywheel with a 12 inch clutch. 460 Flywheels are thicker. If your 460 is internally balanced some people have used 390 flywheels with 11 inch clutches and 400 bells. If you have to have a 12 inch clutch you can make a spacer between the motor and bell. If its thick enough (.5) it will also fix the input shaft problem so don't do both this and the 302 bearing. If you use an actual 460 bellhousing from an 83 or later everything will bolt up stock and you can fit a 12 inch clutch. I'm using autofabs mounts but L&L should work. The biggest headache might be headers.
