If I were you I'd have the mechanic drain the oil, check the magnetic drain plug, and dump the oil through some coffee filters as well as cut open the oil filter to look for any metal parts.

I thought I read somewhere the SPR1 had some filter or screen or something to keep the IPR from sticking or something along those lines. If there's an internal screen before the IPR then debris might be trapped inside the HPOP instead of in your oil rails.

After the HPOP ,
Should be an edge filter ...Nothing should make to the injectors or back to the pan ...

They stopped using an edge filter. Does that mean Gary started using them again in his pumps? He uses the same pump for 94.5 to 03 right? Does that mean you've got to find an old style IPR if a newer truck upgrades to the SPR1 pump?

So there is no upstream filter in these pumps ? ..

That can't be good ...

Maybe not. I'm thinking of the edge filter on the IPR. Maybe they moved it into the pump instead of deleting it, but from what I remember reading, the literature said something about keeping the IPR from sticking with some sort of filter/screen/something, which makes it sound like improved over stock. Doesn't Jim sell these? Maybe he can give us the official line on what it does/does not contain in terms of filtering internal to the pump.

As far as I know my first pump had the edge filter and I ran it with my stock ipr. I do remember him saying that the 94.5- early 95 uses the check valve so he makes those pumps specifically for those years and the 95-03 run the same pump. My second pump did have an upgrade that is a screen right in front of the ipr. It's purpose was to prevent any trash from getting into the injection system, problem is I'm not sure when this filter was added.

Kinda confusing but there are two different pumps, one with check valve and one without. With 94.5- e95 and without 95-03.

Well, I've learned the hard way not to mess up the reliabilty of a daily driver. Your aggrivation is amplified when you work 70 - 80 hrs a week and don't have a vehicle becasue you hop it up. You losoe income AND spend your hard-earned money having it fixed because you don't ahve time to do it yourself.

My daily driver is all stock (excpet for Stage-1 which don't alter reliabilty) and will stay that way. Fuel pump went and it got a stock pump. I needed more HPOil so it got a new 17° pump.
Been there done that. The other truck is my toy for wrenching on.
To each his own.

I think the 100 pump thing is kinda like the record deal stuff.

100 pumps have been sold to distributors and such, not necessarily that many installed on peoples trucks.

Not meant as a trash, but I just don't think 100 people have these installed yet.

Glad Gary is trying to do something for you about it though. Nobody likes their shizzle to break.

William,
I would bet just about all SRP1 pumps are pre-sold before they are built. I know I have 5 guuys waiting for over 4 weeks now.
I will also bet you won't find a SRP1 dealer with one on the shelf.
And with a $250 core charge I can't see someone buying it and just hanging on to one for the heck of it.

Well just sayin I'm glad I never sent in my core or I'd of been out of my truck for a week the first go around and no telling how long this go around. Gary did say the past 30 days and your core would be reduced rule will not apply to me considering the circumstances. Thankfully! But I'm still out the $1000 bucks or so it cost up front and still running old faithful ( my original pump). Kinda not fare but that's how the world works
So why should this be any different.

So to the op, have you gotten your truck back running? I've heard Gary has been a lil tuffer to get ahold of lately. Just curious.
