Thumbs up Picked up my Beast this weekend

Well, that's what my wife calls it. She's only 5' tall, so maybe I can see her point.

It is a very sweet ride. Gonna baby it for the first 1000 miles, then we'll tow the camper for some fun. 180miles down, 820 to go...

2011 F250 6.2l 4x4 XLT, all the bells and whistles.

Beauty, man! Love the color. The wife shot cracked me up because of the 5' comment. My wife is 5'10" and my truck is STILL a beast to her... Whatcha gonna be pulling with it? I have a 32' Fleetwood Wilderness.

We have a 2007 27' Dutchman trailer. It's GVWR is 7000 and we've been pulling it with my 2001 E-150 Eclipse Conversion. Van only has 120K on it so will still have it for a while.

But now with the new ride, I've already been eying a few of the small 5th wheels. Don't tell the wife... I'm thinking something in the 9500-1000 GVWR would still pull nicely. The truck is rated for 12K+ so it wouldn't be pushing the limits too hard. I see a few RV shows in our future.

I pulled mine with an 03 Eddie Bauer Expedition. It handled it, but you knew it was back there. I've taken the trailer (9500 lbs) out with my 11... its the same as yours, except super cab, black. The braking was incredible... as was the towing. Only reason I really knew it was back there was because the ever present Average Miles Per Gallon all lit up on the dashboard kept showing 7 MPG... down from my average of 12.

Wait til you see what the dash can do once you get 'er hooked up...

I agree with Eatonpacat, my wife call mine "The Beast" too when we first got it. She was afraid to drive it, then I told her she was driving to the store and found out it's not bad. Then I went out of town for 5 days, she drove the truck everyday then told me I had to drive the car now. Well that didn't go over very well, she is driving the car, at least for now.

Nice truck too, the Red looks really good.

Thanks All!

I guess "The Beast" is official.

I get to put it to work in three weeks. Moving one daughter home for the summer from college and then moving another daughter out to her first apartment the very next day. Yet another daughter is moving into her first apartment in June. So you see it will get some good work over the next few weeks.

Also, did a "cool" thing with the remote start yesterday. While walking out of my barbershop and by another customer, I said "F-250 Start!" and hit the remote in my pocket. The guy looked at me like I was a wizard and said "nice truck."

Heh. Nice.

Make sure you dig up the thread on the hidden USB2 port in it. That is, if you have the Sync system.

Tom

Maybe he just thought you were strange because you were talking to your truck... only said nice truck to avoid being killed and kept in your freezer!!

Yup saw that USB2 thread. Between the SYNC and streaming via BlueTooth either my music or Pandora, I've got a lot of options to decide on. I do have SYNC, but not Sirius. My salesman said I have a free six-month trial, but he must be wrong as I see no sat antenna and I can't get to it via changing the media input. No biggie, I really don't think I need it with the entire internet available via my iPhone plugged into SYNC.

So right now, I'm trying to see what I want to do with it while driving. I have the $40 Garmin app and would like to use the iPhone mounted on the windshield as a GPS. I've seen that set up and like it. It still allows phone calls through via SYNC BlueTooth. So I guess the remaining question is what to do about music. I think I can also stream that via BlueTooth, just haven't tried it yet. I've been using that AM/FM radio thingy. So, if that doesn't work via BlueTooth, I can either use SYNC to control the music controls or if needed, dump playlists in folders of mp3 and put a thumb drive in the open USB2 port. In fact I've ordered the $3 gender bender from Amazon, in case I go that route.
