ok so my bronco has no ***** and i know im sure i lost some get up and go from my 33in tires but i have a 83 bronco wit a carbed 302 and it just has no power to it i have done a tune up and nothin yet another question i have is how do i know what gears i may have and how to find out? thanks guys
Check the codes on the inside of the door. It might also tell you on the axle tag.. post here or search the axle codes and we can tell you what gears it has.
Also, don't expect much from a 302 with 33 inch tires. They just weren't the most torquey motors in the world. I'm seriously disappointed with the power of my 351w with 33s and 3.55 gears, can't imagine how much I'd hate a 302. I'd expect to spin the tires from a standstill with a 5.8L motor, 350ft lbs of torque and 33'' tires, even with a LSD.. but I can't, even with some money into the motor.
Bottom line is that these motors (especially the 302) have no torque at lowend, it all hits at midband or higher, so you don't get that 'umph' from a standstill that you expect from a truck.
