Interested in purchasing a replacement Certification Label?

< Moderator's Note - The below post is a continuation of https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-jamb-tag.html >

I was thinking the same bud. Perhaps the "group buy" that I am always talking about. I would be willing to bet, should we get 10 guys in on it then we could average out the cost. Even if the guy wanted $100 for mine, and then $60 to the rest of you guys that would be satisfactory with me.

Anyone, I'll send an email and see what the possibilities are, perhaps you can make a sticky thread to get some attention?

Hey everyone,

I'm in the process of painting my pickup. I attempted to pull my GVWR/Cert Label, off my drivers door frame. Well I noted that some of the black lettering was going to dissapear should I continue. I pressed it down and looked for another avenue. I contemplated making my own and it didn't pan out. So, I came on here to FTE and asked around. I found that Marti a class car documentation company can make these stickers. Thus far the pricing is $100 for the first one and $60 for each additional one.

So since mine was faded I anticipated that probably others are experiencing the same dilemma. I am hoping to get a "group buy" organized and we can all pool our info and send it to Marti. I am thinking that we have a couple of options. We can all send the money to someone trusted and they can make the payment one time to Marti and then Marti will send each person their label. I sent an email to Marti seeing what the options may be in terms of a group buy. If this works as other ones I've been a part of then a perk is a lower price for each member (if Marti gives us a deal).

If they will not do that, then I contemplated totaling up the number of members who are interested and then dividing the initial hundred + $60 by each member.

Something like this,

If 10 members jump on we got, $100+$540=$640. Which helps to share the cost with the initial $100 that is required for the purchase. ( I am assuming to fire up the tooling etc.)

Anyway if you are interested feel free to send me a PM or post here and I will update when I get more info.

If we decide on one payment person ideally it would be someone who is trusted, perhaps not myself, maybe a mod? If I take it on I can verify my feedback on ebay and other sites to ensure I have no negative feedback anywhere...

Here is the website I don't believe what we are purchasing is listed and will be a special tool up by Marti. http://www.martiauto.com/

Just to clarify:

$100 first one * Qty 1 = $100
$60 additional * Qty 9 = $540
=============================
______________Qty 10 for $640

$640 / 10 ppl = $64/ea

I have an idea, see if we can get them to handle all of ordering, payment and delivery
and keep a written record of who bought what that we can all see.

IOW we'd get something of a negotiated contract price, and we can all see how many
people took part.

There would need to be a cut-off date after which time the offer is rescinded, only
those who took advantage can get one at this price.

This keeps all of us from having to collect money from people and/or paying for a
product that was "ordered" but never paid for. People in general will talk but, when the
time comes, how many will actually put up the money?

I sometimes do it this way when setting up rafting trips with a large group of people, I
let the rafting company handle most everything.

At the very end, we can all see exactly how many people bought one, do the math,
and PayPal ya (Eric) whatever funds are necessary to even out the cost.

I don't think a mod should in any way be handling people's money just because I want
to keep FTE out of it from that standpoint... This is not an FTE-sponsored purchase or
event or opportunity or ANYTHING and I want to keep FTE from being the recipient of
the finger of blame when, invariably, somebody says they paid for something they
never got, or want to return it for a refund, or the product did not perform as advertised,
or whatever.

If we set up so that Marti handles all (most) finances and record-keeping and warranty
replacements and whatever, then the only additional action anybody has to do is send
Eric a few bucks to reduce his cost and maybe pay him a bit for setting this up for us.

I'm pretty sure I would participate - I'll be dealing with paint this year.

What is required paper/document wise for a new label?

So is it an exact duplicate or a homemade jobby that will pass with inspection and registration?

They come from a commercial restoration company so I'd expect the quality to be adequate.

Bill (NumberDummy) will be back I think next Tuesday I'll ask him to offer his opinion. I
think I would rather have FoMoCo do it but I don't know if that's possible anymore because
of the age of these things and, besides, the need for documentation & Shop Orders & police
reports is just too much for these purposes IMHO.

Sure am glad I looked at the stickys! I'm gonna be poking around to get a new cert. sticker for my truck once restored.

But I plan on driving straight to the Oakville Ontario Ford plant here and see what they can do.

I did save my original sticker, and actually still looks great, some bitty parts of the black letters did come off, but still looks fine! I do want a new one though, even if I have to pay 400$ for one I will!

Hey guys I asked Mr. Marti about the potential for a documentation of purchasers, this is the response I got.

"Mr. Glover,
I'm not going to be able to help you if this is going to become complicated. You originally made a statement about how important it was for you to get your truck right and you were willing to spend a lot of money. Now you are asking me to give you a list of people who paid for a tag. I don't do business this way. If you are interested in my company investing in getting this tag made, pay the $100. Then suggest your friends order the tags for $60 and ask them to help you by giving you $5 each. But please, don't complicate this for me. I'm already giving you an incredible break since my artwork costs are actually over $250 to do this.

Thank you,
Kevin Marti

Doin this would I be able to change paint codes or interior codes from the original or would that be gettin to legal and possibly troublesome? Id like my cert to show my trucks finished state rather then its startin point but it WOULD maintain the original vin.

I'd imagine you could have the codes be anything you like (color, axle, whatever) but I'd
guess you should talk to Marti. AFAIK the only thing the DMV looks at *on this tag* is
the GVWR but that stuff is already incorporated into the Title anyway + many of these
labels don't even exist anymore or are barely or not at all readable.

It's not like we're doing this in an attempt to defraud anybody and these things aren't rare,
collectors' classics or anything.

Ok so in my attempt to get more towin capacity out of my vehicle would it be more hassle to change the gvwr to a more accurate to real capabilities number or to leave it and explain to the cop that pulled me over for pullin more then my truck looks capable of. I realize that to change the gvwr here would also want to change it on the title. I dont mean to be a noob bout askin this but its been somethin I just havent been able to figure out from other sources.
