Ok guys I've been looking at older threads an post on horn problems an what not but yet still lost. Bout the truck already had the automatic steering column upgrade not sure from why year but the horn doesn't work so I found the blue/yellow wire cut it an stuck it to a ground an got nothing. Looked at the horn an it is connected the wire wire runs into a electrical tape cluster an goes two ways. I'm lost an looking for anyhelp
on another note when i do get it working im wanting to put a button on the dash in a insert that the guy previously had in there where the cig lighter possibly went. anyone know any buttons for just a ground maybe classic looking or anything.
The horn is run through a relay in front of the starter solenoid with three wires going to it. One is power from the battery, another is to the horn button and the third is power out to the horn. The line from the relay to the button is grounded by the button, activating the relay which then sends power to the horn. Often the relay goes bad and sticks on, or a wire would chafe and cause the horn to sound all the time.
rustranger, I caught something that you might want to look into, column upgrade.
There is a brass ground that goes around the rag joint that can impeed the horn working. I used a piece of wire a couple three inches long and connected the two sides and my horn works everytime.
ok guys i havent a clue what i did but guess what ive the horn working BUT its only by me grounding the blue/yellow wire. do yall know or where of any swithes/buttens something i could possibly put in the dash

Soooo, the switch in the steering wheel is simply completing a ground circuit; no voltage there? I was actually troubleshooting a non-functional horn over the weekend but with no wiring diagram handy I got as far as making sure the fuse was good and deciding to leave it until I could do some research and see how that circuit is supposed to work so I could figure out where the necessary relay is at. At least now I know where to look for that
