2008 F-250, 6.4PSD, DPF back delete w/ 4" straight, baffled tip. I installed the Banks Ram Air intake and did the Banks Ottomind Sport tune. Still getting 12.8 - 13.5mpg. Roughly three tanks through the new configuration. I sent an email to banks asking if the effects of the aforementioned install should be immediate or gradual. Here's what I got in return. QUESTION: Does it make sense? I'm new to this Diesel business so any comments/input is appreciated.

Hello Michael,
Your email has been received and forwarded to Tech Support for a response.
Every vehicle, operator style and amount of airflow is going to be different so it is difficult to determine with any certainty what kind of fuel economy one can expect with any one particular vehicle or individual. However, one thing you can do to expedite the learning process is to disconnect the battery or batteries (both leads) for about an hour. This will reset the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and the sensors. At that point the vehicle’s adaptive learning capabilities should take over.
We hope this information proves useful to you.

Sounds like chicken soup, can't hurt. I think it's true that the PCM will reset when the batteries are disconnected, And I guess they will learn a new stradgey or relearn the same one. I don't know what the sport tune is but i would say based on all the posts I've read on here for the past 2 years that if you look under your truck and the DPF is still there your mileage isn't going up. And even if the DPF is gone it isn't going up much. If you will drive it like an old lady it will help some. most folks use diesel clean for several reasons fuel mileage being one. I think sennix is a banks guy, he will tell you something soon. Good luck.
Kinda what I'm figgerin. Am using DK - 8 oz per 25 gal fillup. Hell, at $8 a bottle it can't hurt. Will be doing the DPF-delete when the $$$ come a little easier. Til then - I'm happy settling for 15mpg average.
Thanx

If thats daily driver mileage there are lots of folks on here who would like to have it. Mine was getting 14 when I quit checking it. I pay no attention to it now.
Disconnecting the batteries will force the tranny to re-learn.
Or...you could just go out and do about three WOT's from a stop to 60 mph. Followed by dropping down to about 30 mph on the last 0-60 WOT, then wot back up to 60 mph.
I'm as acronym based as the next guy. Took me a while to get what "LOM" was (Lie-O-Meter...right?)
WOT?
