What kind of shop manuals are you guys using? I'm in a 54 F-100. I've seen a couple different ones out there, on different web sites. Just wanting to know if there is one in particular I should look for, or, maybe more importantly, one to stay away from. I'm looking for one that will show/tell me how to take everything apart and put it back together. Thanks.
Jw,I have three original manuals and a reprint.Though all the original ones were in good shape when I got them, the glue on the bindings is in the neighborhood of 50 years old,and the splines began cracking. Now all three have loose pages.I'd get a reprint.
The best manual will always be the factory service manual. They aren't perfect, as no manual will tell you how to take everything apart and put it back together again, but it'll be as close as you can get. Get the right reprint for your year truck and it'll be the best $35 you'll ever spend on your truck. For the rest, you'll have to rely on a little common sense, and the help of a good forum. ;-)
