do what dick said and pull the pan , and clean all the gunk out and the crankshaft has a plug in it as it has for a lack of a better term , a sludge trap . scrape and clean it all out !!!!!! pull the valves being your that far , be a lot easier to try and unstick 'em . you'd be suprised at how well one of these ol' girls will run even after a long sleep ........... mine sat 25 years and after unsticking , a bent valve replacement , she was running . she smoked , but did something i learned from my gramps . took a 1 litre soda bottle , filled it with gas , and some comet cleaner , and fed her that what i think 2 or 3 times and it cleaned the cylinder walls up and the rings reseated and walla no smoke !!!!!!!!!

I would not recommend removing the sludge traps, there are 4 of them and they are a weeks-long effort to remove, here's some that were "persuaded" out...
ouch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but isn't that a reason to go in and tell the wife you have to buy that new stroker kit as the crank is broken / defective ????????????????? i got the email address of some fine folks that could fix the " broken crank problem " .................... LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!
