I feel compelled to post this on my passenger window. What do you guys (and gals) think? If I had a dime for every idiot that put his paws on my paint job I would have had money for that Mustang II IFS upgrade. lol Anyone have their own warning sign ideas? I have seen those standard signs that hotrod places sell (the ones with the generic old time cars or eyeballs watching you). I like new ideas.
Depends on what your truck looks like! Just kidding!
I'm just jealous that I dont have a truck for anyone to look at, Yet...
Post up some pictures for us to drool on...
But seriously, people are ignorant these days, I have been at car shows where parents let there kids climb in and on peoples cars and don't say a darn thing... I don't care if someone entered there car and it has 25 year old paint and shows it, I keep a close hand on my kids if they are with me and make sure they don't so much as even touch someones car/ truck unless someone (ie Owner) says to. Common sense is gone I'm afraid.
You almost have to be right there 24 7 and be an *** to get most peoples attention.
Good luck with signs, I cant recall any specific signs i've seen but am sure there are a lot out there.
my kid is a wild animal. i can't make any promises about what may happen if he gets too close to your truck but i would whoop him if i could catch him denting it or something.
p.s he wouldn't be scared of your sign
I am sad to say that at least once at every car show I see kids touching other peoples cars, signs or not. I would hope that others would do the same and educate the visitors of the cars show, since the offenders do not typically have a vehicle. I usually state to the parents and child that the owners put a lot of money, time and tears into the building/maintaining of their vehicles and do not typically appreciate people touching (hands, hand bags, belts, chains on pants, food/ drinks, etc.). So if they enjoy seeing the collection of vehicles they need to keep that in mind and enjoy from a distance unless they obtain prior permission. I finish by letting them know that other's do not explain in such an nice tone, so if they do not want someone yelling at them or their child, they need to educate their child on car show etiquette.
I enjoy reading the "warning" signs and am trying to draft my own, but we need to do some direct instruction regardless of the vehicle belonging to us or not.
The sign is meant as a joke and a subtle reminder. My F250 is no show piece and often has people touching it. The guys at my local car club laugh because they would rather have the truck over their wives (I think). I was just wondering what others had for signage. Not that many in the general public read the fine print. LOL
people don't watch or correct their children like they should today . even my own kids don't correct theirs according to this grandpa's rules , as they should , but they dain well know too mind it when they're around me .......... i have caught people of all ages in my truck , on the running boards , in the bed , fiddling with things , under the hood .... you get the picture . then they are suprised and put out at your apparent anger at what they are doing . the trucks down obviously as we all know and the 52 has operable door locks ............... i doubt most people would get the humor in your sign and be offended and go complaining to show officials . me ... well i'm a smart **** so i'd say okay here's my wife but be careful she bites now gimme the keys and i promise to be gentle .........................
Years ago,I used to occasionally ride vintage Italian scooters with a a local club, mostly the young 20-something crowd.I gave it up, after realizing they were more interested in being seen, than in riding.
Till I gave up this frustrating exercise,we'd meet Sunday mornings for bagels and late's at a trendy local coffee shop, where bikers of all kinds hung out, among which were all flavors of posers. The coffee shop is in an old Victorian, with a nice outdoor seating area close to where the bikes would park. I could only finagle a half day every other weekend from my wife to ride, and I eventually abandoned them, and the Vespa, and began riding solo.
There was this guy who had one of the most sought-after bikes in existence,a Vincent Black Shadow. He could usually be seen sitting alone in his period-correct leathers, puddin' bowl helmet, and goggles, drinking espressos and reading some gay-*** book of poetry. All the while,he would keep shooting nervous glances toward his rare prized possession, chained to a parking meter with a thick logging chain, not five feet away. What's the point?
I understand the desire to have a nice truck, and the need to have recognized by others all the time, energy, and sometimes big-bucks that went into it.Others, like myself see these same trucks mainly as vehicles to be used and enjoyed daily, and we sort of self-righteously sneer or chuckle at the week-end warriors with their trailer-queens,who seem to need a trophy and recognition from others.I appreciate everyone's trucks.I appreciate the freedom to do as we all please,I just do it for me.This is my view, sorry if you're offended at my candor.

Hey Gus, you got an old fashioned stove in your kitchen! Are you burning coal or wood? And your kid reminds me of mine when he was that age!
Well, judging by the the nasty private emails I have received from this post, many people didn't seem to get my sense of humor. Apparently some people didn't seem to see the humor in my post. I DON'T have a trailer queen or a show piece. It is a daily driver between April and November (when the snow isn't flying) My sign was meant to make people laugh. I didn't take it personal until I received an email telling me that at the next car show someone was going to make sure they "roughed up" my truck. Seriously? I guess no one has a sense of humor these days. My post was meant to find out what others had seen on signage, not a request to make personal statements about my truck or my family. Nor was I trying to be arrogant or rude. I came on the forum because it was recommended to me. For the most part it has been helpful and informative but I guess its time for me to remove myself from the board less my humor offend someone. Good luck to all the well wishers. Good bye.
TD,I want to encourage you to not leave, just because some have been emailing you.Though I gave what I thought was asked for,my opinion,it is just that, one mans' opinion: there's room for varying viewpoints on FTE. I understand my bluntness can only be taken in small doses, and I apologize for that.Don't let someone else ruin your fun.
Yeah I would be ticked too if someone has time on their hands to put effort into getting nasty! aka email! I ask for opinions and I don't mind constructive critcism, but otherwise if you don't have anything better to do than try to ruffle my feathers...well keep you opinion to yourself! I know how you feel! but don't let a few jackwads take you away from this site! instead put the word out on who it was! I have never been on a more respectful, meaningful, and clean forum!
