Trans code 'M' and gear ?
I have a trans code M on my door jamb. Does this mean mazda 5OD?
I have an open 3.55, which sucks in the mud. How hard would it be to swap out for a LS (junkyard) 3.55 4x4?

Yes, M is the code for the Mazda M5OD. If you swap the whole axle, it's a bolt-on. If you just want to swap the diff carrier, you have to have the gears set up again, and you might as well rebuild the clutch packs.

I'll probably want to take one apart and rebuild it, not out of neccessity, but for the experience. I'll have to check out prices and such... maybe a locker is what i want.
Can i simply put a locker in the rear? I couldn't see why not, other than I would be better off with the front wheels seeing as they get the traction in a pickup.
