U-Joints?

It's 12:30AM, so I'm just gonna keep this short and sweet, but also provide the best information I can.

Below listed, are the experiences I've been having, and according to some people, it's the U-Joints, none of which own a FORD.........shame for them eh?

I just want advice/input from fellow Ford Owners, to add some trust to the whole thing.

1. Slight Vibrations from 55mph and up

2. A "Clang" sound when I let off the clutch, almost as if you can HEAR the Drive-shaft being put under load.

3. Very noticeable vibrations when I let off the gas and allow my truck to coast on a downhill highway stretch.

4. Skipping, when I take a corner, it almost feels like it's skipping, although this could be my tires as well, please take that into note forehand.

Thats about it, all of which is leading most to believe it's my U-Joints, now, I had this SAME problem with my 89 F150, and with 2 kids, work and friends continually getting stuck in the mud pits calling me for help to pull them out (PAID BACK WITH MONEY) I had no time to really look into it, whihc resulted int he best part of my birthday, my transmission exploding (cracking in the upper rear portion, and keeling over, snapping the Driveline.

Thank you in advance.

Sounds like it's very likely a bad u-joint.

Agreed. And it'll take all of a minute to slide under the truck and check them.

Sounds like a u- joint.. but if you have a two piece shaft it also could be a center carrier bearing bad.

Just crawl under it at try to wiggle the shaft near the joints on each end. It really does sound like a bad u-joint. They should have no play when you wiggle them.

The 'skipping' as you say, could be the front hub/s locked in. Also the u-joints there could be bad also...Let us know how it goes...

IMO I also agree that it's probably your U joints. But the skipping makes me think you may have a limited slip rear end that might need attention.

You hit the nail on the head, my brother had to borrow the truck to pull his truck outta the mud while I was at work, that was a few weeks ago, and thats about when it started, after looking at your post, I checked, sure enough, the hubs were in the "LOCK" position, thank you.
