If you already have the '97 solenoid, I say pop it in there and see what happens. I also don't have anything at stake in your scenario, so take that for what it's worth.
RR - the transtar catalog I have shows two different E4OD "solenoid assembly" part numbers with 94-95 being the breakpoint. the note infers the earlier ones were PWM and the newer ones are not. FWIW, the part numbers only differ by the suffix letter.
Well, I found out the 97 will not work. It's wired different internally like a couple of you said. I got a new one for 129 though so no problem. It's working perfect now.
I did go and loosen all of the valve body screws and torque them though. ALL of the studs were stripped out!!!! I'm pretty ticked. I replaced the one that was broke off and have to go back in some time later to helicoil all the others. My kid will be paying for this!
