Want to grab one out of the junk yard, is there a way to see if its any good?

Measure it with a Ohm Meter, aka DVM/VOM. I do not know what the values should be, but all you need to check for is continuity from terminal to terminal and end to end. There is usually a thermal protector mounted somewhere on it as well. Pretty obvious if it is tripped. They can be re-soldered.....

 

X2, I wouldn't know the exact values but you wouldn't want an OL / infinite reading nor 0 ohms resistance.
