Sorry for that the rest of the info did not post so here it is. The truck has been acting up no power. I cut out the cats and no change, I was driving down the road after i changed out the egr vac selinoid to see if that was the prob bc the old one was cloged up. thats when i noticed the glowing it is the first time i tested it at night and never noticed it befor.
My last '93 Lightning lit up the manifolds and all 4 converters a few times before I finally tracked down the problem...... bad PIP in the distributor. When it acted up the truck lost power, like no fuel. Turns out it was effed up spark timing caused by the PIP.
Strangely enough I never got an error code when the truck was running this bad.
I had the problem with my 93 mustang when I rebuilt the motor. I had a defective fuel pressure regulator and my fuel pressure was over 50lbs so it was running way rich. Had my headers glowing red within a few minutes.
found the problem, some how the dis hold down got loose and the dis moved retarding the timing moved back to where i think it should be but no timing marks for me to make sure so how do i know if its right.
BULL, you need another book!!!!! Pull the spout connector, slap timing light on #1, move dist to where it shows 10 degrees before TDC , tighten dist. Drive off smiling..
