I have a chance to pick up some front springs off of a 2003 F250 diesel crew cab with only 5,000 miles on them. The owner put a lift on his truck back when he first got it and hung onto the factory springs but he has since sold his truck and is now selling the springs. Since he no longer has the truck, he can't tell me the spring code. Since it is a diesel crew cab, I'm guessing V or W. Does anybody have any information they can share? Thanks.
I think Ws came on F350 diesels and Vs came on F250 diesels? I'm not positive on this, but I think if it is was an F250 you are good to go. If you're uncertain I would be interested in buying them whether they are Vs or Ws.
I just changed my front springs to v code. They cost me $275 new from ford. There is a lot of info on this site, use the search tool, good hunting. The swap took 4 hr with 2 guys, its a fairly easy mod
Thanks. I know all about the mod but I don't know for sure what the spring code is on the springs for sale since the truck that they came off of has been sold. From skinsfan6 post. it looks like V codes were standard on the f250 diesel which is perfect.
ocboat, back when i was trying to figure out what my new (2003 F-250 takeoffs) springs were and I asked here for help forum member Red EX jumped in with a list that may help you with some decoding.
Heres that thread, good luck! https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...and-codes.html
Can anyone tell me the exact height increase of the V/B(modded) swap? I plan on doing it but want to make sure I can still fit it in my garage. I currently have a stock 2005 Ex 6.0 with 45k miles.

No spring was standard on the diesel F250's. They were chosen by computer at Ford, depending on the rig, based on the information I've come across over the last 5 or 6 years.
U's, V's, and X codes were the most common. X codes were found on the snow plow package from Ford. I've yet to come across an F250 that had V's. All the one's I've seen on the road had U codes.
That's not saying the U's are more common, just reporting my experience.

Not possible because it depends on how "tired" your current springs are, and it also depends on whether or not you get new springs or take-offs.
Rule of thumb is between 1.5" and 1.75". A few have seen a tad higher that 1.75"

you swap springs and youre not going to fit it into a 7' garage.....
I picked up the springs today and according to the post by Red Ex that WE3ZS posted (thanks WE3ZS) they are V codes. He also threw in the U bolts, pitman arm, front sway bar end links, rear blocks and ford factory mud flaps. Everything is practically brand new.
WoW! Sounds like you are all set now. You are welcome for the help but the credit needs to go to Red EX, his list helped me figure out my springs.
Good luck with the install, report back with the results and how you like the change.
Will do. I forgot to mention that I also received the rear overload springs. Can these be incorporated in anyway to my rear springs? It looks like this is removed when going with the modified B code swap so probably not, but thought I would ask. After looking through the box of items, I did not get the rear blocks, they are the front spring perches/plates and I also have a piece that I don't know what it is. It is a fairly large metal piece in the general shape of a triangle. I'll snap a picture in case nobody knows what this is from my awesome description
