Weekend project
Removal of the bulb was a piece of cake and with a little bit of research from FTE I have decided to get some replacement Hella bulbs...
Getting the bulb back in was not as easy as I anticipated. I decided to remove the battery box to make installation of the bulb easier.
My wife came out into the driveway and told me it was time to get ready to go out to dinner. I had to button things up and leave it until Sunday.
Sunday I got up a bit earlier than I usually would in order to get the truck back together in short order.
After I got the light bulb back in I realized that I was really close to having the drivers side engine comparment torn down so I decided to do the foil delete.
It took about an hour to get the foil off and after a pint of laquor thinner and several shop rags later I was ready to put everything back together.
I realized that there was quite a bit of dirt and grime that I couldn't live with in the engine bay so I sprayed things down with brake cleaner and carefully hosed things down.
Everything went back together just great... time for a test drive to make sure it was all good.
I expected to have a bit more turbo noise without the foil but it really didn't make much of a difference. I decided to get on it and rev the engine just a bit more than usual to see if there was any noticable change in the turbo noise. Needless to say I was a bit surprised when I shifted into third and got on it when one of the boots popped loose. It scared the heck out of me. I limped several blocks back home and replaced the boot and made sure it was positioned properly and tightened it down snug.
Even after 9 months after cleaning and recharging my K & N air filter the inside of the tube all the way down to the turbo was clean as a whistle.
Looks good, what is the piece that I have the yellow arrow pointing to?
