Glenn, I've noticed that the membership on this site branches across all age brackets nicely.
ff1210, the caps lock is not that big of a deal, it just gets annoying to read all caps. When you're trying to get people to help you out, it never hurts to make it as easy as possible for them to help you.
Back on topic, I don't think anybody's going to advise you to get a 2WD with plans of making it a 4x4. Parts alone are going to run you over $2000, so I would just add the money I would have spent on the 4x4 conversion into just buying a 4x4 to begin with if I were you. Why would you want to deliberately make things harder for yourself?

Im glad every one has tolt me to just buy a 4wd i never thought of that sorry if sound like a A<>. You all would rather talk about what you would do not what the poster is asking. So with that said some one told me that the change over is easy to do. All the parts post to bolt on with no prob. I have no reason to own a 4wd at the moment but if i bought the truck i would want to keep it and i think it would be a challenge to lift a 2wd about 6'' and turn it in to a 4wd at the same time. Thats just my thoughts.

As you can see in Joesph's link, in the first couple of sentences he mentions doner truck. Hey, we all love working on our trucks or we probably wouldn't be here. If you love the challenge then go for it. You'll need the room for a donor truck and to move all the parts around. If you live in the country, great. If you live in town you **** off all the neighbors and might even be turned in for code violations, been there. The list goes on and on but I love a challenge too. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that, most likely, someone told you it was easy and they were trying to impress you with there skills. It might be your best friend so I'll shut up now! LOL
