I am trying to replace the Key/Ignition Cylinder in my daughter's 1990 Bronco II. It has the tilt-wheel. EVERY set of instructions says something different! I have the instructions from the new cylinder manufacturer, from Chiltons, and from Haynes. Some say I must remove the steering wheel some say I do not. I have removed the upper and lower plastic column covers and have clear access to the cylinder housing but I cannot locate the release pin hole. One manual says it is on the bottom, one says it is "at the 4 o'clock position about 1/1/4" from the housing, and there are several pictures showing it in plain sight on the side of the cylinder housing, but I cannot see it anywhere.
I do see a little metal cover plate help in with a single torx screw and am thinking it might be under that, but it will require pulling the wheel to remove.
I have done several cylinder changes on different Ford's and it has always been a snap; now I am frustrated. Does anyone know where that realease pin access whole is on a '90 w/tilt -wheel? I don't need the procedure, I just need the location. Thanks.
