Rusty bolts

Rusty bolts
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Well I started the swap on the motors and the one I have in the truck has rusty exhaust manifold bolts and bolts that connect the exhaust are rusted in too. I have tried soaking them with lube and they will not come free. So I am looking for ideas on how to get them free.
<o></o>
Few ideas I have were to cut the exhaust and work on them when they are out of the truck, but that means a new exhaust.
<o></o>
try to remove the bolts from the manifold and if they break just lightly pry the manifold away from the head and use saws-all to cut the broken bolts.
<o></o>
I am at a loss right now so any help would be appreciated before I do something stupid

Rust Search

I think that everyone here at one time or another has faced a similar issue with a rusty bolt or two. I did a search of this site using - removing + "rusty bolts" – to see what others have said on the topic. Here are two links that might offer some input to your dilemma.<o></o>

I recommend that you try a few different search combos in the Advanced Search tool option; you might get lucky!<o></o>

for the manifold bolts, its just a lot of suck. Cause if you break them, its pure misery to drill them out. Lots of penetration oil. Big breaker bar and patience. Also, try it with the engine hot. Might help. If you get them moving, do the rock tighter then loose to work them out.

Exhaust bolts. See above, then add cut the bolts off and replace them with new stuff (from ford or mazda or hardware store) and LOTS of never seize. Heat is also a help here, but is useless trying to torch the engine block!

I have a 2.5 foot breaker bar that I sometimes put a 3 or 4 ft section of pipe on.

Suggest using PB Blaster to soak them good prior to removal.
