So Guys whats the key to these things, which ones do I need? My 84 has the stock 5 springs in the rear and 3 in the front (idk why you only need 2). But at any rate, I want to add like 3 or so to it as auxillary ones you bolt on?? I have no idea what these look like or anything so throw some ideas and pictures at me so i get an idea of what i need to buy and what kind of work is involved.
if you feel like going to a wrecking yard, check for a chevy 3500 dually, they have the same 3 pack that john just posted. and at a wrecking yard you can get em cheap.
I just got an air spring kit from jc whitney for an Excursion. Havent installed it yet but it seems to be made well and from what I've read they work great. I opted for the compressor kit also that comes with a pressure gauge that mounts under the dash and has a switch to turn comp on and a button to bleed pressure. Total cost was +- $425. I think that would be ideal for a removable camper, as adding more leafs is going to make it stiff when empty.

This is what I was talking about in the dually thread. There is a picture of the timbren springs I tried to paste here but I dont think it will work. See post 13 or so in the link I posted above if you wanta see.
Thanks John, thats what im talking about but ive seen these kits that add 2 or 3 with some brackets bolts around the end of the extra leafs on both sides of the axle. I want a total of 8 springs in the rear on each side, which means adding 3 on both. Cause I have 5 for some reason (IDK FORD THREW THIS TRUCK TOGETHER).
I dont want the second kind your showing with the air ride type thing...idk what they are called haha ! I can carry about 2000 lbs(ton of hay) in the bed and I just want the peace of mind lol. And im not worried about how stiff it will be in the rear when unloaded because I wont be driving this truck unless its loaded, or im going somewhere where it will probably be loaded down with something at some point.
I replaced my springs with stock NEW ones and that raised me up a bunch. Especially
when loaded. The springs are 25 years old remember and they lose some of their spring
just getting new 5 leaf helps alot.
well it looks to me like the add a leaf kit is what i am looking for. those rubber boots, we use those on our MRAPs and they break a lot from use. I seen one that had fallen off and half was still there, then again the Caimen weighs some 20+ tons. So unless you guys would recommend the boots over the springs? I honestly how those work or anything. What are they rated for in wieght? And what kind of expierience do you guys have with them?
