Surging at all RPM's
Have a '97 F-350 for a farm truck. Put on a 6637 intake from riffraff, a 3" downpipe and cat delete. The truck seems to surge at any speed under load. Seems like it has done it since we put these mods on. Not sure, but could the exhaust heat valve be closing part way and opening back up? The temp gauge barley gets in the normal range. When it's cold you can really feel it closing and opening. Could it be closing part way and opening back up after the truck is warm?

It will keep closing and opening until EOT gets up to about 175*. You might have a bad thermostat if you are barely getting in the normal range. Of course, it should not do it at all unless cold starts are 32* or below. Unplugging the EBPV will verify if this is your issue.

In addition to unplugging the EBPV you can wire the valve open too.
The connector is on the 1st picture, the 2nd shows the EPBV tang in the OPEN position. The butterfly is not visible unless the DP is removed.
