Ok so I was drivin down the road an out of no where I get a really loud grinding like noise from my left front wheel area! Its a rotanional noise and sounds almost like something hung up in my brakes. Faster i go the louder it gets and when I weave back and forth the sounds changes.
It seems to me like its a wheel bearing or something. I cant see anything out of the normal and the truck acts just fine, i.e. doesnt pull or drag or anything like that......just a horrible noise.
Just wonderin if anyone knows what this is or where to start? I havent looked at it yet but tomarow Im gona jack it up and see if I have any side to side movement in the wheel or if it drags at all when I spin it. Other than that I dont really know what to look for.
Thanks in advance for any help!...........I need my truck!
Looks like you got it covered. Brake pad, bearing is where I would start. If the wheel doesn't shake it sounds more like pad coming apart. Is it louder when you brake? Keep us posted. chet
OK so I've been super lazy an haven't tore it apart yet. An oddly enough it stopped making the noise but I'm still going to check it out.
My question is how many bearings are in the hub knuckle area? An does anyone have a blown up diagram of the axle so I know what I'm looking at when I tear it apart an don't get confused?
