i have a 67 f100 long bed with a 352 big block and c6 auto trans it neds a rebuild bad rings and no oil pressure i also have a 390 with a busted block can i swap the crank and rods and will it make a 390 or some stroker combo any info on this combo would be helpful
If the 352 block is good enough to be drilled out to 390 size, you can use the crank & rods and make it a 390, or get your hands on a 360 from a 68-76 truck and that for sure will become a 390 with those parts.
thanks now i just need to tear it down and have the machine shop look at it. which heads are best 390 heads or 352 heads can get casting numbers if you tell me where they are
i checked what i have, one set of heads was d2teaa on the 390 the other set was c7ae-a could you tell me what they are and which is better
D2TE-AA heads (introduced in 1972) have hardened valve seats. C7AE's do not.
There is no such thing as a C6 (17 trans pan bolt holes) until 1968 in F100/350's. 1965/67 F100/350's w/352's came w/the MX Cruise-O-Matic (14 trans pan bolt holes).
If your truck does have a swapped in C6, it's also possible the engine's been swapped. 1968/76 F100/350 360/390 blocks are the same, have the same bore (4.05), the stroke is different.
Stroke: 352/360: 3.50" / 390 = 3.78"
If the block's casting number prefix is C8AE, D3TE, D5TE, it's a 1968 thru 1976 block.
