1. Anyone know where I can get one of those cork carb to air cleaner gaskets without buying a whole engine gasket kit?
2. What is the best engine paint for a 53 flattie?
3. What is the best exhaust manifold paint/ coating for my 53 ?
Eastwood is a company that will have various engine paints and a lot of other good quality stuff. Google them to see what they offer. 1952-1953 Tangerine Red and Green
Which carb and air cleaner are you using? The stock oil bath type should just clamp on with no gasket????
Mine would clamp on without a gasket, but it could turn easily. I just had the carb rebuilt and had the gasket and put it on. Now when clamped on, it stays put.
I have stock air cleaner and carb. It works fine without the little cork gasket washer. I would think was engineered for something useful but who knows...
Harleyman, thanks for the tip on engine enamel.
I put the eastwood on my GTO motor and near the manifold it turned brown within 10 mins of idle temp. No better than a $4 rattle can from NAPA. Wondered if there were better products out there.

Be forewarned, I just used Hirsch's paint for my engine and it says right on the can, not to run the engine for a week after painting.
I used Duplicolor Engine paint, and it works fine. I did not paint my intake though, cause I wanted the aluminum to shine through. I did paint everything else though! The only problem I have had so far is I cheaped up on the coats...I should have put more down.
For what its worth, I have always used Duplicolor Engine paint, and never had an issue and they last for years. Maybe you want a specific color or something that they don't offer...I dunno. All I know is they offer early Ford blue. Since I have only built SBF, it works well.
