Romping at start up

hi everyone, i have a 02 f250. Long story short i had to have warrenty work done on the truck for a oil leak. I got the turbo pedistal and oil pan replaced. its been about a week since they fixed the oil leak but i have drove it every other day. So i decided to plug in my superchips to put the milage tune on since i got 285's on the truck now. downloaded tune went to start and it just romped ( truck just shook left and right) then died. Tried starting again but put my foot on the pedal and it starting acting fine then. It never did this before. But once the truck is warm it starts up just fine. This was yesterday today i tried it with the performance setting same thing so i switched it back to stock and it started but felt like it was going to romp at first. Any ideas? I didnt put any de-geller in it last fill up the temps have been high of 40's and lows of 25-30. So i filled up today and put some in. Could it be gelling up. Or could the dealership have put in thicker oil? oil level is fine. Doesnt puff out white smoke while trying to start or when its started. . BTW truck is all stock except for 6637 mod, 4inch exhaust and superchips. But it only started once i put the milage tune on. Maybe just a coincidence. Thanks

Bring it back to them and have them fix it. They might of missed something when they pulled the engine to change the oil pan. How do you still have warranty left?

I would suspect the Ford oil they put it... switched it out to a 5w40 syn such as Rotella Shell and your romps will be gone for ever.. Had the same problem with ford oil..(15w40) on mine.. You can extend the oil change time to make up for the extra cost..
Just curious, did they pull the engine to replace the oil pan ?

I had a 30 day warrenty when i bought the truck. the warrenty ended on march 4th. But i had to wait to get the truck in. When i started it at dealer after they replaced the oil and it started awesome and it was about 25 out that morning and never had a problem since the one morning i decided to put that tune in. I know they pulled the trans and they lifted it atleast some what to change it. Its just wierd how it ran awesome for a 1 week then started with the romps.

I would take it back and tell them what happened, minus the chip install they will blame the chip everytime, then see if they will look it over to make sure they did not forget something. It sounds like thick oil or fuel issue, try those first if dealer says everything is ok.

I think ill try changing the oil first. The dealer is a hour and a half away and I know it will be atleast a week til they could look at it. Stupid question but how many quarts does it take to fill it for a oil change.

If you live where it gets cold, go with synthetic. Don't forget to change the filter, it holds more then a quart. Put 14 qts in then crank to circ the oil, stop engine, check oil.

EDIT: I would keep an eye on the oil pan to make sure it is not still leaking. The proper way to do the pan, is to pull the engine and turn it upside down.

Ok thanks for the tips. So far no leaks from the oil pan, I check it after each drive to make sure. I hope a oil change fixes it.

Well, I bought oil and some fuel additive for gelling. I put that in and topped off the fuel. Figured I would try that first since it was cheaper. And since I put that in the tank I have not had a starting issue. I'm going to wait on changing the oil since its starts fine now.
