Update on Benchwork steering conversion

Well so far so good. Everything has bolted right up. I have the front clip off doing a 460 conversion as well. So I have the box, adapter, steering shaft and pitman in. The only real work in it so far has been painting the pitman arm. Tomorrow I'll try and ream out the knuckle and mount up the drag link.

That thar is purty. After all is said and done, let us know what your overall impression of the company, customer service, their product, and whether they did their homework. Lastly, the "up-front cost to driveability value" ratio and whether you'd do it again.

Well I'll tell you there customer service is exelent. I ordered the wrong pressure line. I have a Saginaw pump. I sent the line back and they sent it back with the correct adapter free if charge. In less than a week total time from when I mailed it back.

IMO that kit is a rip-off, they charge you $1,100 for parts that you can buy over the counter for a few hundred bucks.

If that isn't bad enough the kit doesn't even come with a 4X4 steering box! it's a 2WD steering box!

Save yourself nearly 1K and do the power steering conversion using your own parts.

It works just fine with the Saginaw pump. Just make sure the bolts are tight and use loc tite. I'm running 35's and no issues. Steers with one finger. Even being a 2wd box I think she's plenty strong. And yes the conversions expensive but at the time I really did not want to cut my frame. If I break it. I'll box in a 78-79 or a Saginaw outside the frame box.

the Ford F250 Conversion kit is awesome i love mine. they know what they are talking about when i talked to them. yes it is expensive but the boss explained to me that the intermidiate shaft is made with spicer U joints and yokes and the box is a factory ford box and the backet is straight bolt on and cnc plamas cut. i would put hands down on their kit

yea no problem. theyre very awesome at responce time and they helped me through the whole install. just tell them what you are doing and i think they have saginaw pump brackets for any FE Block 360 390 400 440 and 460. i got referred to them when my buddy did a convertion on a c10 and they have brackets for 350s. i wouldnt doubt if they have one for a cummins

Thanx again Adam. If they don't have the bracket, I'm prepared to make my own. I have all kinds of metal around my shop. I just rather buy one. I have to many things to build otherwise.
