Is there any after market shifters for the 1356

Hey, I was using my 4x today and it kept popping back into 2x while I was driving and my linkage is real sloppy. Are there any after market shifters available for that t-case that work well in these trucks... 87 f-350.

sounds like you need to adjust the linkage there isn't much you can do with the shifter itself its all in the linkage

The rubber bushings in the linkage may be shot not allowing you to fully put it in gear.

you can drill and install bolts with nylon washers and nylock nuts like i did to solidify a crap system. My shifts stay put now, didnt before and probably caused the downfall of my last transfer case.

Yea I like the bolts with nylon washer idea. I wish there was another option for a shifter. I wont be able to mess with it for a few more weeks. I still have to drive up to Wisconsin and back before I can really dig into this truck. But most of the snow is gone now so I won't really be needing the 4x.

are you referring to the shift lever thats inside the cab? if so, i have no idea there, you could easily make one from 1/2" steel, hell i have even seen rebar that was heated and rapidly cooled for added rigidity. anything is possible bro.

No, my shifter bar is ok. Its the linkage, its real sloppy and the shifter bar is loose. I have not had a manual shift t-case since my last bronco and that one was nice and tight. My other truck is a 1991 f150 with 5.0 and e4od, it's a push button shifter with auto hubs. I guess I just need to go through it and replace bushings or do the bolts with the nylon washers. I was just thinking that maybe there was an after market set up for our trucks like a cable shifter or something. Sorta like a B&M but for the t-case.
