Man this thread is a breath of fresh of fresh air. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. Dont get me wrong - i am bummed i have the oil leak to begin with however i will put the good and bad of the deal on here to share. I will update this thread when i get the leak detection completed.
well i spoke with the advisor today after the leak detection was complete - leaking bedplate. My dealership is rather small and they already have a 2003 F350 going on the lift for head gaskets - his dime - ouch. they only have 1 area of the garage large enough to hoist one of these trucks up - so i have to wait till his is done. im told they will remove the body. Yank the motor and do the bedplate. He says they can pull the body in 4 hours - not sure if im impressed by the speed they can do it or the fact they have done it so many times they are really good at it? I will get a quote on headstuds while they are in there - perhaps one of our resident techs could estimate for me approx how many extra hours would be involved in pulling the heads for studs if the motor is already coming out anyway?
update - well finally got the truck in last night - went by this afternoon and they had the body off and way to many parts sitting on a bench lol. the tech said he will have the motor out tomorrow and get the bedplate fixed up. Have pics but not sure how to attach? anyway i certainly see why people raise the cabs - life is so easy with it out of the way. waiting on my studs to come in to the parts store so hopefully anything else that goes wrong in the future can be handled under the hood by me.
