5.4 Timing Question
The timing chain doesn't appear to have jumped teeth and is still in good shape. I replaced the guide, tensioners, and a rod bearing that spun after the oil pick up clogged.
There was also some slightly torn up teeth on the Crank Position ring. (the ring on the crankshaft that the CKP reads from) but due to a delay in parts shipment for a new one, I put the old one back in.
I put everything back together and then tried to start it needless to say, it didn't start. I tore it back down to replace the Crank Position Ring and upon further inspection, noticed that the timing marks dont line up on the RH camshaft (which is the side that the guide broke on) Its about a quarter turn away form the right position with the crank at TDC but the LH cam is correct. Turning the engine by hand, i can feel compression and exhaust so I know it's not too far off.
Im trying to determine if this cam rotated far enough to damage any valves without pulling the heads. I could do a compression test but I'd rather not put it all back together again to run it and find out I have to tear it down again...Any Ideas?
