Most of you already know the back story here, but I'll fill y'all in anyway.
My wife lost her job last summer.
I picked up a 2nd job to make ends meet.
She has now (thankfully) returned to the working world, and is bringing home very close to what she used to.
We can officially survive without my 2nd job as of sometime last week.
That does not, however, mean that I should quit tomorrow...which y'all just know I'm very ready to do.
In case I'm not being clear enough, we've got mountains of debt that we've acquired over the last seven or eight months, and keeping the second job would reduce that debt much more quickly.
It should be noted that working seven days a week sucks great big fat hairy donkey butts.
Hang in there as long as you can and relish in the thought that when they really tick you off, you can tell them where to go and how to get there. Just a mean old redneck's opinion, of course.
i feel for ya man..have to say i have been there...more than once in my life...now i am older with my place paid for kids all moved out and not many bills so i can get by on a lot less..hang in there as long as ya can with the extra job...but it is not worth killing yourself over..
I'm with the others on keep the job as long as you can tolerate it. Just don't let it cut into you and the wife's life. You two still need some time together, probably more so since she's working and contributing more to the household. She'll need you there to vent to and tell about the day's events at her job occasionally. But I still work a full time day job and my shop four hours per night Mon-Fri and most all day on Saturday.
Thanks all for the input. I'm surprised to see that most of y'all agree. (How often does THAT happen???)
My thoughts at the moment are to try to stay through May. The store is actually rather short handed right now anyway, and going through a management change, which ALWAYS results in x amount of staff turn over. I'm trying NOT to make a bad situation worse.
However, because we're short handed, those of us who remain are working more than we want to...
I'd have to try to hang on to that second a little bit myself. Get over what things have built up to, maybe put a couple bucks back. Nothing wrong with a little "Mad Money"
Unk Bob
