Hey all, I'm getting a p0340 code - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
I don't have any driveability problems like misfire or hard/no start conditions. The weird thing is how/when it popped up. I just drove to san diego from phoenix and stopped about 180 miles before stopping/restarting the truck (to refuel). Both times upon restarting the truck, the CEL came on. I checked code and p0340. I cleared it just for the heck of it and drove another 180 miles to the hotel. Checked in and restarted the truck to park it and same exact thing. There is a ultra slight squeal coming from around the distributor area and a minor exhaust leak around the EGR valve under load but other than that, no real driveability problems. It seems I've lost engine power after replacing the exhaust manifolds which would make sense since exhaust isn't dumping right out after the engine....... Any ideas??
There is a bushing in the CPS that wears/dries out and produces that squeal. I have had luck lubricating the shaft, do not yank it out you may need a special tool to realign.
