Since you can feel it more in the seat of your pants than you can in the steering wheel I would say you're not fighting the "death wobble" and are probably just suffering from old bias ply tires.
I recently got rid of some 30 year old bias plies on my truck in favor of some radials. WOW! what a difference. I can now drive where I want to and not where the truck wants to.....lol
Look the tires over, one of them might have developed a bubble or something.

Ok I am hoping that is the issue. If it is where can I get some radials that look like the original bias plies? I haven't looked in any of my catalog's for tires but can you recommend one to me? Thanks
Does your truck have 15's or 16's? In 16's, the radials closest to stock in appearance and height are LT215/85-16. There are some made by Goodyear under a different name, I forget what right now. Bridgestone also makes some in this size. Cheapest places are eBay and Discount Tire Direct. There are some issues using radials on the old rims, you may want to search on the topic. Also the LT215's are a pretty stiff tire, even tho they are better than the old bias plies.
If it was tires, would it come and go like that. kinda sounds like slack somewhere that got to oscillating and went crazy. I had a ball joint I knew was getting sloppy on my 93 and while traveling at 70 mph I got a shudder very much like you had. I stopped and looked, found nothing and keep going w/o any shuddering. :/ I changed the ball joint and havent had anymore problems since.
