The truck has 59100 miles and still under the 60k mile warranty. I was towing around 5k lbs on Saturday for 80 miles both ways. When I got back the undercarriage was soaked in tranny fluid and dripping from the pan. The last transmission service was done at 30k miles at the dealer. Today I took it to the dealer for service and the tech said the fluid came from the transmission vent, provable cause overfilled.
When I got there the tech was gone and so was the service advisor. How can it be overfilled after almost 30k miles of service? I tow regularly from 6 to 10k lbs and never had any spilling issues. Something is not right and I only have 800 miles of warranty left.
What do you guys think?
The only thing I can say is get back down there tomorrow when they are both there and confront them. Tell them you want a logical answer or possibly an extended warranty on the tranny if they choose to ignore it.
I'm having a hard time communicating with the service advisor over the phone. He is from India and has a terrible accent and the dealer is 20 miles away. Is it possible for the transmission to leak if the vent tube seal is bad even if it wasn't overfilled?
Did you get anywhere with this dealer? Trans fluid can leak from the vent tube seal, only if it has become loose or cracked for some reason. Check it yourself to be sure. Wipe everything down with lots of brake clean, check the level, then run the truck around and find that leak!! It is bad news to have trans fluid get hot or near anything hot(exhaust).
