I reused mine after headstud install. Maybe not the correct thing to do, but it's been 10's of thousands of miles since and no leak. They are pretty heavy gaskets.

Same, I even re-used my rocker box gaskets. Just made sure to clean them well, and re-oil them before installing.
They are not leaking. When dealer replaced ICP sensor & harness last year, he commented that he bumped the #8 injector harness plug and in unlatched itself. He said he had a *ell of a time getting it back on. He told me that that injector was replaced at one point (by a dealer in WI under warranty before I bought) and the wiring was not correctly installed thru the valve cover. He said if it ever comes off again, the FICM & valve cover will need to come off and the wiring done correctly.
Plan on testing FICM this weekend and can almost guarantee I will be resoldering with the way the truck is running. I thought while I had the FICM off, I would pull the valve cover fix it. I'm thinking that it is not properly snapped into position.
This is the reason I asked.
Out of THOUSANDS of 6.0s I've wrenched on, I have had to replace ZERO valve cover gaskets. ENOUGH SAID. In answer to the OP's question, yes it sucks but the valve cover DOES have to be removed, in order to properly seat the injector through the rocker arm carrier. This is provided that none of the four lock tabs are broken. By the way you described what was done to your truck, I am assuming you have a 2003 engine, with the straight rail. This makes access to the connector much easier than those with the wavy rails.
m-chan68,
You are correct, 03 engine.
#8 injector & icp sensor only things every replaced in 92,000 miles (as far as I can tell).
Tech at the dealer commented last year when doing the ICP that I must have got a good one.
