Axle codes

Other then a shop manual is there anywhere online where I can get the axle codes for the 87 to 91 trucks,I might be buying a 88 bronco to do a 2wd swap and if it has steep gears I will need the codes to look at trucks in the junkyards to find a more highway gear.

my 1990s got the code 18 for the axle code and the axle tag corroborates the 3.08:1 Open Differential designation of axle code 18 so I suspect that stayed the same all the way through to the end of this body style of half tons

I am not 100% but I think this list is good up to late 90's or 2000ish.

My 1995 F350 has the C5 code for the axle. I knew it was 4.10's but I wonder if it is limited slip. I am guessing it has the D60 front.

Well if you look at the chart. It shows it as a 10.25 axle, single rear wheels, with limited slip.

Okay thanks, I had seen that but was not sure of which axle but I guess with Ford make it is safe to assume Sterling 10.25 or 10.5.

The only axles used in HD F-series trucks of this vintage was the Sterling 10.25 in semi float and full float versions.
