Hi everyone! I dont normally post in this forum (i normally post in the 70's forum) but my friend asked if i would post his question.
My friend has a 2001 F150 with the 5.4 engine. His prob is with his pcv valves. He has replaced it several times but the problem keeps coming back. Basically the valve "chatters and whistles" when the engine is running. Replacing the valve fixes the prob, for a little while then the noise returns.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
P.S. It was nice to meet you guys, stop by the 70's forum sometime.
I've never honestly seen that problem before.
Does he use Ford PCV valves or aftermarket ones?
Any chance the hose to the PCV is split, causing a vacuum leak?
That's not an uncommon problem.
Does temperature make any difference? There is a TSB on the PCV freezing in very cold weather.
And feel free to pop into the forum here anytime too.
Racer dave thanks for the suggestions. He has tried the cheapo parts store one and one from ford. Although i will check on the vaccom line you suggested. Thanks again, Joe
