I took out th pcm to get the code for a chip and first found that there has been a chip in the truck not to happy about that previous owner said there has never been. It wont go back in i inserted it the the side that says this side up and nothing lines up. what am i doing wrong
no pins are bent all straight. I wasnt paying attention when i took it out thats my fault. I used the "this side up" when putting in back in b/c i thought that the pcm needed to be a certain way. Could it be that the "this side up" was for when putting the cases back togather?
are you talking about the PCM itself? if so just try flipping the actual PCM around, i know my plastic shroud sayd this side up...but that is the plastic shroud. ive done this before and just flipping it makes it go in right. dont try and force it. it should go in smooth
yes there is only one way that the shroud can go after i fliped it it slid right into place but im am worried that its not right if i plug it in it will just fry the pcm correct then a big bill and i dont need that
i just watched powerstrokehelp's video on a dp f5 install on youtube and when reinstalling he said that the "X" on the cover faces the fender well? can some one verify that
I believe unhooking the batteries for a ammount of time your computer relearns your specific driving habits, highway, local cruising and so on, I guess unpluging the PCM you'll get the same if not better results. Just what I've learned over the years with computer controled vehicles, glad you got the PCM back in.
