Friday evening my wife an I went out for dinner taking the '03 Escape. As usual, turned on the headlights and drove off. A couple hours later we left to go home, so, again on come the head lights - oops the low beams don't work though the driving lights and highs are fine. I figured since it's been a lousy winter that maybe some corrosion and a fuse let go from high resistance. Nope, fuse is good as is the relay so I pulled the bulbs and checked continuity - both lows have burned out. Since all other electrics work fine, no other bulbs are out so ruled out a voltage spike. These were the original head light bulbs so my guess - they just expired from old age.
I've had a good many vehicles. All have occasionally failed a head light. Never have both died the same day. I replaced them with the Sylvania XtraVision 9003 as my luck with the Silver Stars = lousy at best.
