Donor gas pedals

Anyone find a donor gas pedal that actually worked out well in a 53-56 with modern V-8. I am trying to use a 79 Camaro pedal and it isn't happening. The angle of floor really complicates things. Few choices to mount it and I can't get enough stroke to bring the throttle all the way open.

Lokar options are out. The fancy billet doesn't go well with my steel brake pedal.

I used a Ford gas pedal from a 1996 f-150 and was very pleased with the fit & appearance. Part # F2TA-9726-DA. The mounting bracket for the arm mounted to the side of the firewall hump behind the engine. Bracket & arm are black metal and the pedal is black plastic. The end of the arm is set up for a modern throttle cable but that could be changed depending on your linkage. I can send you a picture if you email me an address. 'Fenders,

The aluminum teeth on my Billet gas pedal in my '59 stripped. I replaced it with a Lokar metal (chromed) unit. The tension on the cable seems too tight, but so far it's holding out. They offer a matching chrome brake pedal cover.

Trukbuff,

I would be interested in the gas pedal assembly. (reference above comments to 'Fenders).

Thanks,
Daryl

I'll PM my email address to you. That sounds like a better deal than my current attempt.

Daryl

It may sound stupid but I am going to match the gas pedal up to my current brake pedal. My brake pedal is the result of a kind Corporal from work extending a Ford Van pedal for me. Basically took two pedals and made one long enough to clear my FR steering column. It came out perfect after he tweaked it 43 times. Aside from not hurting his feelings, the man weighs 250 pounds and used to wrestle on the US Army team.

'Fenders,
I put out a feeler for the part # listed above. Got feedback: $25. If interested, here's the 4-1-1:

Hi fenders, I bought a repro PEDAL from Sacramento Vintage Ford for my 54 f100. It looks like new and cost $11.00+/-. Good Luck. John T

I used the original pedal on my 54 and the cable from the 92 Mustang (engine too). I did some mods, but it worked out well.
I will try to get some pics.

Basically, I cut off the rod that was inside the hood compartment, and re-welded it at the correct angle to the pedal inside , then drilled a hole for the Must. cable and attached the pedal to it.

Thanks for all the help guys. I am still hoping truckbuff will come back and send me a PIC of his setup. I should have provided a bit more info I guess. I have absolutely none of the stock gas pedal components. I have an Edelbrock Performer carb which seems to have an awful lot of accelerator travel from idel to W.O.T. I can move the mount location on the carb arm in just a little closer to the shaft and lessen the require gas pedal travel by just a bit if I have to. The Camaro pedal does not look promising at all. I think I am going to have to break down and raise the hole where cable enters the engine compartment. It is already too high as far as I am concerned.
