Talking OT - Weekend Project with my Son

My son was given a 1972 small jon boat last year and he used it a bunch fishing in the local water ways. Problem is there was no trailer. He pulled it around with my big utility trailer, it was extreme over kill. So we went looking for a trailer and just couldn't find one that was not $1000.

Then we got the idea of buying a small utility trailer from Harbor Freight and modifying it . The small square part in the back was the 3.5' X 4' utility trailer that cost us $143. I had the 3" square tube we used for the main and some other scrap tubing left from other projects. We got some wood and carpet from Lowes and a few parts from Tractor supply. We started Friday Night and put the second coat of paint on it today. Down right proooooo - fessional looking! We have about $250 in it.

It is pulled by a Ford Truck.

GUIDE BARS

You need some guide bars mounted on the back corners . Poles that stick up about 3 feet to guide it on the trailer. Also helps to guild the trailer when backing it in the water. Some folks put trailer lights on them to keep them out of the water. NICE WORK

very nice.we been trying to find a boat like that for fishing.
I love the trailer looks sexy....I have seen a guy build a teardrop trailer on a trailer like that and it came up very nice.
