will a c6 torque converter used behind a big block ford, work in a small block ford c6? also going to invest in a shift kit so i was wondering if anyone had any recommendations....

I was recommended the ford shift kit for my 74 f250 c6 not a launch at high revs but nice firm shifts
As far as I know, the only item that could come into play is the pilot hole diameter.
I think the SB/BB convertor uses the same flexplate bolt pattern, but they *can* have different pilot hole size, depending on year.
The center snout of the TC goes into the center of the crank, like the input shaft of a manual trans.
I guess you could try looking for the pilot bushing used for a manual trans, for both engine sizes/years, and see if the book calls for the part number.
351W is small block pattern, 351M is big block pattern. 82 could have been either, from what I have been told......
What engine are you wanting to use this TC behind? If all esle fails, measure the diameter of the pilot on the TC, and the hole in the crank, then compare the flexplate bolt holes and TC studs for distance.

I have a pretty well built 357 I want this trans behind estimating 450 to 500 horse, I was just hoping I could order some parts before I drop this trans
By 357, I'm guessing it's stroked small block? If so, the 351W TC should fit fine. But, for that HP level, you might be better off getting a little higher stall speed convertor, that's made to handle the higher HP engines.
That's what the plan is, not a stroker but a 351w bored .030 over, thumpr cam, fully balanced, blueprinted, world product heads etc... I'm looking for a 2500-2800 stall as well as something to give me firm shifts, and any other goodies for this trans so I don't blow it up.
