So, should I be shutting my truck down everytime I get out or should I let it idle? FYI, most of my driving is around construction sites which means I don't get to get on it until I leave to go home at the end of the day.

This is why I let mine idel.

I let mine idle, if it is an extended amount of time i do flip my #4 switch which is hooked to high idle and not BCP which I might change after reading this thread.

My rule is usually 10 mins or less let it idle, more than 10 shut it down. I think this is a good balance of preventing wet stacking while at the same time not having to turn the truck on and off multiple times. I'm not sure if there is any truth to it, but I've always been under the impression that multiple starts are hard not only on the batteries and starter but on the engine itself.

IMO it is better to start it than to idle it.

The idling for extended periods of time comes from the old mindset that fuel is cheaper than starters....well thats not the case anymore...I'd rather buy a starter a year or two sooner than to let me pickup idle. I do let it sit but not longer than 15 min or so with the high idle on.
