I'm having difficulties with my oil filter screwing on my reman 1982 302. Nothing looks cross threaded. Does the inlet on the block swap out? I've tryed motorcraft and fram so its. Got to be the inlet thread, idk any suggestions.
FL1A right? unless whoever built it put the wrong insert in it, did you try an FL820 too? thats my only thoughts. Im sure someone will have a better answer soon.
honestly, i am not sure. I know that is the other common ford filter. they used it on the 97+ f150s. I have heard of others using a cummins filter on them. no idea how that was done. at the very least im pretty sure the insert that the oil filter screws onto is removable. dont quote me on that, but I have taken the insert out of a 460. either you will see a hex head on it or the inside should be a hex style.
Definately sounds like the oil filter nipple has been damaged. Been too long since I messed with a 302 to remember if part or all of the filter adapter can be replaced......
