9 inch gears
I have a 67 f100 swb with a 429 cobra jet and c6, It has 3.00 gears now but I want to put differant gears in it.thinking around 3.70 does any body have an opinion on what to go with and what make gears to get.thanks

The 429 C6 with 3.00 rears should be a very strong puller and get the better mpgs. Changing to a 3:70 range ratio will give the truck much more launch, make the engine turn much faster at 60 mph drinking a lot more gas.
With gas prices headed up like they are I'd do more thinking on that. 3:70s would be great behind a OD tranny but will be costly at direct. IMHO

thanks for the reply,I took the truck out for a ride yesterday went maybe 20 miles and it drinks the gas!!!! About 1/8 of a tank or a little more gone!!I think it should be rated gallons per mile not mpg.It does pull pretty good but would like a little more off the line.At 4.00 a gallon for 92 octane here in ny maybe i'll reconsider.thanks again
