Keith Stone,
Is the only concern the small pieces of metal that might not get filtered out? And as far as cranking, I know ATF has less BTU's, but that is why I was thinking of running 80/20 mix with diesel with c-tane.
yeah, they clog and damage the injectors in our trucks, no way to filter them out.
i filtered mine down to 5 micron in my idi and then ran it threw 2 fl1a oil filters with magnets on the bottom of both and then threw the factory filter on the engine, my best advice is its not worth the savings in the long run expecialy in the di engine and i didnt just run all the tranny fluid i got it was only out of the vehicles that got tranny services done so it was still fairly good condition fluid, if there was fluid out of a blown up tranny or any fluid that came out of a vehicle that had any concern then it did not get put in my tank
yea there is alot of tolarence in the idi pump and the injectors so i ran it but i wont even run it in my wheeler that is a idi just not worth the engine
The other day, my buddy drove his grandpa's truck to my house. It was an old 6.9 IDI that he had bored 30 over. That thing is a beast. I raced him and whooped his butt, though, with my stock powerstroke.
