IMO, a non pre pay station, if it exists, will soon become a "broke" station. I can not understand why anyone would not use a CC or DC, even if it is prepay. My gripe is the stations that will not keep the pay at the pump reciepts working.
I pump my fuel and then the pump screen says something like " cashier has reciept." So I go into the store to get my receipt where the store management hopes I make an impulse purchase. What a waste of time.

The stations I'm referring to don't seem broke at all. They also prefer cash fuel purchases as they do not have to pay vendor fees to the banks and credit card companies, which range from 1.5% to 5!% of the purchase.
As stated in an earlier post, some folks would rather not have every single cc/dc transaction chronicling thier purchase habits. I'm fast becoming one myself.
Even with gas jockeys running the pumps (no self serve in Oregon) we still have to go in and pre-pay.............And "for environmental" reasons no topping off!!!
I went to card lock......I would rather pay a few cents more, pump it myself and be damn sure I have a full tank, instead of bumping on "E" 2 days later!
I take it you guys don't have a BJ's wholesale club near you. Around here, their gas is cheaper than it is on base and if your a member, you swipe card, pump then pay at the very conveniently located cash cage. They even have free air!
Ya we got that part but its the way you described the feeling.
Sorry to razz you Tim.
No, No, No, I got and it was funny as hell! When I ask my wife if she wants to go to BJ's, I normally say the words and I get the rolled eyes and the comments, well you guys know how wives can be.
I have an ID card that I swipe at the local Speedway pump, then insert a Speedway gas card that I pre-loaded with $$. It saves a couple trips inside and saves me 3-6 cents per gallon also. Try and get that deal with cash.
