Slow Crank?!?!
Slow Crank?!?!
I had my 7.3 rebuilt around 2 years ago and the cylinders were bored out(4o over?). I have replaced the starter within the last year and the batteries within the last 7 months! Regardless of cold start or warm start it cranks over very slow. Is this a compression issue from the larger pistons or any other ideas and how i can fis this. In the winter if it is under 2 degress celsius my truck wont start unless it is plugged in. Truck will turn over until the batteries are dead without even attemping to fire.........any ideas?
Remove your connections and have your batteries load tested. While they are loose, clean both sets of battery posts and cable ends well with a batt brush. Even if they look non-corroded, there is a chance oxidation is causing some of your issues. Also, check the connection of starter connections including the ground.
If u have an ohm meter, check the continuity of the cable between the two positive terminals and the two ground terminals at the battery. Then check it between the starter and the positive terminal on the driver side. DO the same for the ground. Resistance should be next to none.
How many cca are the batts u bought?

I had similar things goin on with mine, thought my alternator or batteries were bad, had new glow plugs also. I bought a black cps from Clay along with some other parts, put it in and she cranks like new. You might give it a shot.
The batteries are 750 cca and it is currently 5 degrees celsius outside and my truck wont start! Truck hasnt been started since sunday but the temp hasnt dipped below 0. Batteries turned over for around a minute but not once did she attempt to fire!?
New batteries and new starters can fail! Make sure your batteries are charged and have them load tested. If you find them good, your starter is most likely no good.
If it is a rebuilt starter, you have to understand that not everything is replaced. I have seen many rebuilt starters fail within the first year.

Batteries tested out ok and the shop tested the draw of the starter and it was drawing 300 amps! I also got them to check my glow plug system while they were in there and everything panned out. They replaced the starter and my truck has never started better! Thanks for the help guys!
