I hate to stick my nose in...nahhhh, what the heck.
bismic, cheezit and others have been outstanding resources for me as I have had issues whth my PSD, these guys do it for a living. I sense frustration from them (understandably) when we ask questions, they provide input and guidance, then either dont like the answer, ask again in a different way trying to get a "more desirable answer", or just simply don't follow their recommendations.
rbuller... "I took it to a certified FORD garage and it WASNT a leak" does not pass the smell test when in the next response you say "Yes the truck smelled like diesel, the up-pipe clamp was loose" IT HAD A LEAK, like everyone suggested! And yes, it had an EGR problem. I had the same problem with mine last week and it acted EXACTLY the same as yours - ended up replacing the Y pipe.
Ok, off my soapbox... Thanks everyone for the wonderful input you give, and bismic & cheezit (& others) be patient with those of us that like to do our own work. Couldnt do it without you!
Sorry to be such a bother with my questions. Yes, I agree, I should have listen to you right from the start. It did have a leak at the up-pipe clamp. I was told it didnt between emails while sitting in the shop. Even though I'm being a little attacked, I do appreciate your feedback on my issue. You just didnt know the entire run-around Ive been getting from the previous garage. I took your advice, it made complete sense, to the garage. They just told me the opposite. So I was writing back to see if there were any other ideas. I didnt mean to ask the same question in a different way. I was just going on their word. You guys pretty much had it figured out from my orignal post. Thanks for the replies and your diagnostics based on my post.
You're right Bismic, it was a leak, along with a stuck Turbo and bad EGR valve. (I learned after pulling out of local auto garage and taking it to a FORD Garage) I didnt mean to ruffle any feathers. The previous garage were draining my pocket and obviously didnt know what they were doing and you did without even seeing my truck. For all it's worth, thanks and good job. Take care.
