Good thinking. I didn't even think to paint the bellowed up pipes on my wife's truck. They looked a bit like stainless to me so I'm not sure paint will stick that well anyway. I suppose the collector portion can be painted though...
Oh well, I missed the boat on that one. Wish I would have thought of it back then.

These are my painted IC Pipes. I just used a wire wheel to get the gule off, wiped down with acetone, and then painted with 550 degree New Ford Blue paint. Haven't had any issues with pealing or flaking.

Polish them up and they will look good. I used bare metal polish.
As for the spider I used a wire brush on a drill, no polish.
I did this in Oct '08 and haven't redone them since.
This pic was taken on the 6th of this month.
They stay clean if the CCV Mod is done.

Interesting...
I still think that someone might have swapped an early engine into your truck. The serial number is down by the oil filter housing. Sure would explain a few things...

Were your injectors ADs?

David, that does look like a good serial number and would fall in the late 01 model year range. I think you found yet another location besides just on the oil filter boss. Can you post a photo?

Does a magnet stick to your IC tubes?

This only cost $5-$6 for high temp paint from a parts store.

But if your going to do the hot stuff you will need the VHT ceramic paint.

Would ceramic coating the IC pipes be worth it....cost vs temp gain?

You don't need the VHT paint for the IC tubes plus you don't get as many colors with VHT paint. The regular high temp works fine for the IC tubes.
